Annette Dalton (Nettie)

From Kerry to Kew …. and back again

I’m Annette (Nettie), a Tralee native, returned to Kerry after 20 years in the UK. I’m a flower obsessive … both growing and arranging. I have worked with plants and flowers for 28 years, from working on Show Gardens at Chelsea Flower Show to managing 60 acres of Kew Gardens.

I studied horticulture (including floristry) at the National Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin, Dublin, studied floristry in Italy, and I learned Sustainable Floristry techniques at Tallulah Rose Flower School the UK.

As well as flowering weddings in the UK, Ireland and Italy, I’ve had the delight of working at historic estate gardens, where I could gather flowers and arrange them in the historic house in both the UK (Holker Hall, Gibside Chapel) and in Ireland (Kylemore Abbey, Muckross House, Ballynatray House, Glin Castle).

I’m passionate about helping to build a sustainable floristry industry in Ireland.

Glyn Sherratt

Completing the team

I’m Glyn, and I have a passion for growing plants and flowers. I find growing, and growing systems, endlessly fascinating. I also love the aesthetic that is achievable using locally grown flowers – they look and smell so different to imported flowers.

I have worked with plants for over 30 years, including at Kew Gardens London, Wellington Botanic Garden in New Zealand, Melbourne Botanic Garden in Australia, and managed historic gardens across the UK. My day job is still a Head Gardener, but at Nettie’s Flowers, I plan and grow alongside my wife, Annette.
